He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Martin and Thelma Delores Miller Thompson; and his son Neil Franklin Thompson, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Nancye Hart; his daughters, Teresa Davis of Bozoo and Denise Thompson of Peterstown; and his siblings, Howard Thompson, Jr. of Christiansburg, VA, Richard Thompson of Peterstown and Linda Horne of Gaithersburg, Maryland. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
