He was predeceased by : his parents, Thomas Melton and Lula Clyde Sykes Shaw; his son Michael Shaw; and his siblings, John Thomas Shaw, James Shaw and Nellie Ketterling.
He is survived by : his wife Kathleen Shaw; his grandchildren, Matthew Shaw (Cassie) of Roaring Gap, Michelle Kratz of North Wilkesboro and Stephanie Shaw of Charlotte; his daughter-in-law Janet Shaw of Roaring Gap; his great grandchildren, Solomon Shaw, Bryer Shaw, Weston Kratz and Annabelle Kratz; his stepgreat-grandsons, Joshua Taylor and Brandon Taylor; and his siblings, Marvin Shaw (Betty) of Glade Valley, John Billy Shaw (Dorothy) of Glade Valley, Donald "Buck" Shaw (Viola) of Sparta, Russell B. Shaw (Peggy) of Glade Valley, Martha Edwards (Mack) of Ennice, Nancy Wooten (Bobby) of Glade Valley and Mabel Hamm of Sparta. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
