He was predeceased by: his parents, John William and Delories Alice Gerringer Sockwell; his sister Carol Sockwell; and his granddaughter Macy Pettigrew. He is survived by: his wife Paulette Hunter Sockwell; his children, Pam Fogleman (Tim Doran), William Sockwell (Sherri) and John Paul Sockwell (Danielle); his grandchildren, Tyler Fogleman (Sarah), Haley Fogleman, Ally Fogleman, Autumn Sockwell, Case Sockwell, Cailynn Sockwell, Wesley Pettigrew and Morgan Pettigrew; his great grandchild Emma Kate Fogleman; and his sister Joyce Clemmer (Lukie).
