He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Leroy and Annie Mae Payne Summers; and his brother-in-law Bobby Lee Brown. He is survived by: his wife Pat Baldwin Summers; his sons, Byron Summers (Crystal) and Phillip Summers (Becky); his grandchildren, Hannah Jean Summers, Gage Summers, Avery Summers, Alaina Summers, Bailey Summers, Olivia Summers and Sydney Summers; and his sisters, Wanda Brown and Gloria Stadler (Jack). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to Apple's Chapel Christian Church for Mission Funds, 7345 NC 61 North, Gibsonville, NC 27249.
