He was predeceased by: his parents, Colbreath Jernigan and Irene Caulder Jernigan; his brother Gilbert Leon Jernigan; and his siblings-in-law, C. Lindbergh Caulder and Eliza Jernigan.
He is survived by: his children, Philliph Michael Jernigan (Heather) of Lumberton, Joshua Derrick Jernigan (Kasey) of Laurel Hill, Natasha Donyell Jernigan (Brian) of Fairmont and Brittany Nicole Woriax (Caanan) of Pembroke; his siblings, Jimmy Jernigan (Irene) of Gibson, Dewayne Jernigan of Gibson, Colbreath "Danny" Jernigan (Elizabeth) of Gibson, Raffie Jernigan (Louise) of Hamlet, Vickie Gail Corica (Mike) of Laurel Hill and Cathy Jernigan Caulder of Gibson; his sister-in-law Peggy Jernigan; and his close friends, Tillie Mae, Buttercup and Roo. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren.
