She was predeceased by: her parents, Lewis Perkins and Clarissa Perkins; her husband Elmo Benton; and her brothers, Lewis, Jr. and Charlie Perkins.
She is survived by: her children, Debbie Shirley (Rodney) of Edenton, Jean Benton (Les) of Gatesville, Jeanette Hart (Dennis) of Tarboro and Warren Benton (Andrea) of Morehead City; her grandchildren, Tyler Shirley (Tho), Ben Shirley (Kathy), Taylor Hart, Wesley Hart (Kacie), Lance Benton (Samantha) and Michaila Daniel (Peter); her great grandchild Luke Shirley; her sister Polly Butler (Ken); and her sister-in-law Sandy Perkins. She is also survived by four children, a doting grandmother, and a caring and devoted wife.
