She was predeceased by: her parent Robert Francis; her husband Willie Byrum; her son-in-law Billy Powell McLawhorn; and her sisters, Gladys Butler, Blanche Markham, Minnie Snyder and Madeline Mathias.
She is survived by: her parent Mattie Collier Branton; her children, Joyce Byrum McLawhorn of Ayden, Willie Carroll Byrum (Noreta) of Chesapeake, VA and Alfred Earl Byrum (Lydia) of Nags Head; her grandchildren, Scott Byrum (Dawn) of Santa Cruz, CA, Stephanie Carpenter (Chris) of Arlington, VA, Will Byrum (Erin) of Atlanta, GA and Todd Byrum (Erica) of Norfolk, VA; and her great grandchildren, Jake Byrum, Blakely Byrum, Kylie, Kara and Ian Carpenter.
