He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmett Benton and Annie Taylor Benton; and his brothers, Jessie and Clyde Benton. He is survived by: his wife Lois Ann Perkins Benton; his children, Debbie Shirley (Rodney) of Edenton, Jean Benton (Les) of Gatesville, Jeanette Hart (Dennis) of Tarboro and Warren Benton (Andrea) of Morehead City; his grandchildren, Tyler Shirley, Ben Shirley (Kathy), Taylor Hart, Wesley Hart, Lance Benton and Michaila Daniel (Peter); his great grandchild Luke Shirley; and his siblings, Ruby Buck, Shirley Buckley, Johnnie, Linwood and Walter Benton.
