He was predeceased by: his parents, Allen Richard and Helen Clark Murphy; his grandson Gage; and his great grandchild Lacey. He is survived by: his wife Shelly Bowman Murphy; his children, Scott Murphy (Amanda) of Corapeake, Matthew Bowman of Corapeake, Samantha Russell of Chesapeake, VA and Aamanda O'Connor (John) of Elizabeth City; his siblings, Patricia Oplinger of Fairfax, VA, Barbara Murphy of Norfolk, VA, Diane Paul of Virginia Beach, VA, Pamela Whitehurst of Virginia Beach, VA, Gerald Murphy of Norfolk and Joseph Murphy of Michigan; and his grandchildren, Danielle, Kiersten, Jordan, Laila, Kylee, Kendall, Heleana, Loghan, Emma and Gwendolyn.
