He was predeceased by: his parents, Mitchell DePuew Sawyer and Mary Jennings Sawyer Smithson; and his brother Christopher Mitchell Sawyer. He is survived by: his wife Michelle Riddick Sawyer; his children, Caitlin Virginia Sawyer and Everett Mitchell Sawyer of Sunbury; and his sisters, Margaret Cotto of Goldsboro and Cheryl Jordan of Edenton.
