He was predeceased by: his parent Thomas Elliott; and his siblings, Linda Ann Askew and Kelly Ray Askew. He is survived by: his parent Bertha Howell Askew; his daughters, Sherry Askew Grant (Johnnie) of Gates, Jesica Askew Johnson (John) of Greenville and Thelma Francis Askew; his sisters, Esther Greene, Kay Greene and Beth Perry; and his grandchildren, Will, Caroline, Rebecca Johnson and Lilly Grant.
