He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence T. Sawyer and Bessie Lee Perry Sawyer; his daughters, Angelique and Andrea (Calvin Hirmke); and his sister Brenda Diane Kilgore.
He is survived by: his wife Ginny Ward Sawyer; his daughters, Greta Sawyer Meadows of Havelock and Elizabeth Lynn Ward (Braden) of Gates; his siblings, Sharon Lee Bowman (Tommy) of Elizabeth City and Lawrence Wayne Sawyer (Connie) of South Mills; and his grandchildren, Liam Meadows and Emerson Rae Nale.
