He is survived by: his wife Thelma L. Jones Gates; his siblings, Darlene Gates of Suffolk, Virginia, Connie Holliman of Suffolk, Virginia, Debbie Gates of Suffolk, Virginia and Reginald Gates (Marianne) of Greenville; and his stepson Brian Jones of Pottstown, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by one step-granddaughter; four step-grandsons; as well as a plethora of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
