Betty Jo Savage Umphlett Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Jo Savage Umphlett (Gates, North Carolina), who passed away on August 21, 2021, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Lee Savage, Sr. and Sally Mary Draper Savage; her siblings, Shirley Ann Savage, Jeanne S. Elder and Bobby Savage; and her granddaughters, Jordan Nicole and Morgan Grace Hale.
She is survived by: her husband James Thomas "Jimmy" Umphlett; her children, Vicki Byrum Hale (Danny) of Gates and Ricky Byrum (Eva) of Gatesville; her stepchildren, Rhonda Umphlett Meinhardt of Suffolk and Joe Umphlett (Rita) of Carrsville, VA.; and her grandchildren, Briana, Luther, Zachary, Brandon, Keith, Kody, Robert, LeAnne, Randy, Leslie, Geoff and Neal.
With the resurgence in the area of the Covid-19 virus, no formal visitation is planned; however friends may visit with family at their respective homes, or in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service where social distancing measures will be encouraged.
