He is survived by: his wife Gail Hancock Burger; his son Walter Adam Burger III of Gastonia; his godson Chris Hopper of Gastonia; his daughters, Shauna Burger of Gastonia and Shurie Johnson Smith (Chris) of Shelby; and his siblings, Eugene Burger (Clarisha), Samuel Burger (Lena), Edward Burger (Ival), Charles Burger (Lillian), Jerome Burger, Dorothy Warren, Becky Johnson and Evelyn Prunty (Melvin).
