She was predeceased by: her parents, Ralph Whitfield and Myrtle Mae Sanders Herring; and her husband Ray Anderson Kayler, Sr.. She is survived by: her children, Ray Anderson, Jr. (Cindy Kayler), Julianne (Jimmy Rawls) and Virginia (Wesley Lyon); her grandchildren, Anderson Kayler, Allison Kayler, Elizabeth Akers (Brad), Wesley Lyon, III, Julie Callaway (Luke), Mary Katherine Rawls and James Rawls; and her great grandchildren, Olivia Rae Akers and Lillian Grace Akers. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Genevieve Johnson Scholarship Fund c/o Southern Wesleyan University, PO Box 1020, Central, SC 29630.
