He was predeceased by: his father David Grigg, Jr.; and his brother Reggie Grigg. He is survived by: his mother Sarah Grigg; his close friend Max; his daughter Chrystal Stiles (William); his siblings, Robin Grigg, Camille Montgomery and Jeff Grigg (Emi); his granddaughters, Elizabeth and Sarah Stiles; and his great grandchildren, Derrick and Adeline Cobb. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Legion Post 243, 152 Long Creek Road, Bessemer City, NC 28016, United Veterans of America, 4025 Kings Mountain Hwy, Bessemer City, NC 28016, or to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758581, Topeka, KS 66675-8541 so that they can continue to improve the lives of veterans.
