He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Walter Tate, Sr. and Dora Kelly Tate; his wife Cecelia Bratton Tate; and his sister Peggy Tate. He is survived by: his children, LaTea Tate of Gastonia, LaKea Walker (Gromyko) of Gastonia and Tavian Tate of Gastonia; and his siblings, Mary Crawford (Tommy Lee), Joyce Tate, Martha Tate, Robbins Young, Laura Williamson (Kevin), Deborah Tate, Mary Young (Melvin), Sheila Tate, Duncan Tate and Evelyn Williams (Greg). He is also survived by grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
