He was predeceased by: his mother Nannie Carrick Lanier; his siblings, Johnie P. Lanier, Chinnis D. Lanier, Virginia Dare Lanier, Charlotte L. Dellinger, Pearl L. Fowler and Hattie Lee L. Nolan; his grandson David G. Rhinehart; and his wife Faye Weisner Lanier.
He is survived by: his father Dock Van Lanier; his family, R. Vann Lanier, Jr. (Sharon) and David Samuel Lanier (Lucy); his grandchildren, Chrissy Lanier Wright (Wes) and Matthew R. Lanier; his granddaughter-in-law Tonya Rhinehart; and his great grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel, Preston, Morgan and Brittany. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
