It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ricky Dean Oates (Gastonia, North Carolina), who passed away on April 5, 2020, at the age of 61, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Monroe Boyce Oates and Jean Alice Starr; and his grandparents, Gaynell, J. W. Starr, Nell Brown and Annie Mae Woods.

He is survived by: his siblings, Lisa Oates Huskins (Chad) and Scotty Oates (Karen Thomas); his nephews, Hunter Ballard, Michael Oates and Travis Oates; and his niece Emma Grace Huskins.
