He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Lovingood and Dorothy Lovingood; and his brother Randall Lovingood. He is survived by: his wife Renea Lovingood; his children, Angela Davis (Jerry) and Rickey "Eddie" Lovingood II (Cheryl); his sisters, Rita Ferguson and Ann Helms (J. W.); and his grandchildren, Marty Lovingood and Justin Lovingood. He is also survived by many other family members and friends.

Visitation was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Greene Funeral Service South Chapel (1503 S York Rd, Gastonia, NC 28052). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
