We are sad to announce that on October 10, 2019, at the age of 85, Richard Paul Belton (Gastonia, North Carolina), born in Charlotte, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Daniel Belton, Sr. and Pauline Beatrice Caddell Belton; his former wife Helen Averette Belton; and his brothers, Bill, Jim, John, Jack, Bob and Dave Belton.

He is survived by: his wife Dianne Mitchell Belton; his son Richard P. "Rick" Belton, Jr. (Leslie) of Wake Forest; his stepson Stephen O'Neal (Loralee) of Madison, MS; his daughters, Kelly Belton Anthony (Mark) of Greenville and Cheri Belton (Kelley) of Detroit, MI; his stepdaughter Jennifer Emerson (Chas) of Hernando, MS; his grandchildren, Miller and Helen Berry; and his stepgrandchildren, Anne Mitchell, Elizabeth, Mills, Hattie Emerson, Henry O'Neal and Andrew O'Neal. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The Belton family has requested in lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Dr. Belton be sent to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Gaston, 310 S Boyd Street, Gastonia, NC 28052.
