He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Frank McDonald and Regina Melton McDonald; his wife Cathy Spencer McDonald; and his brother Jeff McDonald. He is survived by: his children, Randy Scott McDonald and Rita Summers; his grandchildren, Emily McDonald, Katlyn Summers, Aubrey Summers and Amber Myers; his great grandchild Elizabeth Rita Whitner; and his siblings, Vicki Carey and Barry McDonald (Connie).
