It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Ramona Hovis Haney of Gastonia, North Carolina, who passed away on April 30, 2023, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Giles Hovis and Blanche Holland Hovis; her husband Javen A. Haney, Sr. (Jay); her son Javen A. Haney, Jr. (Art); and her siblings, Blair Peoples of Gastonia, Billie Robinson of Dallas, Patricia Dereberry of Athens, Janie Dixon of Kings Mountain and Jack Hovis of Bessemer City.
She is survived by: her son Jeffrey L. Haney (Jill); her daughter-in-law Mary Ann Haney of Gastonia; her grandsons, Wes Haney (Katie) of Charlotte, Garrett Haney of Wilmington and Graham Haney of Charlotte; and her great grandchildren, Carter and Madison Haney of Charlotte. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Loray Girls Home, c/o Loray Baptist Church, 1128 West Franklin Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
