He was predeceased by: his parents, Nguyen Truong and Ngan Tran; and his wife Yen Tran. He is survived by: his children, Lam Truong (Hoang Vo), Luan Truong (Tam Le), Linh Truong (Dau Huynh), Long Truong (Cu Miu), Liem Truong (Chan Ung), Loan Truong (Hai Tran), Lien Truong (Em Ngo), Loc Truong (Tuyen Pham) and Khue Truong (Robert Read). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
