He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Junior Sears and Gennievee Payne Sears; and his brothers, Walter Sears and James Sears. He is survived by: his sisters, Judy Paige (Graham) and Janie Hastings (Dean); and his nieces and nephews, DJ Hastings (Jennifer), Kenny Hastings (Claudia), Beverly Stalvey (Rusty), Michelle Sears, Tammie Elswick (Johnny) and Sandy Sears. He is also survived by numerous cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
