She was predeceased by: her parents, Hiram Baucom and Virginia Barnes Baucom; her husband Joe Leonard Carpenter; her son Robert Russell "Rusty" Carpenter; and her siblings, Theodore, James Henry, Hiram Jr., Bruce Baucom, Rachel Smith, Sara Stroupe, Betty McCurry and Sheila Baucom.
She is survived by: her children, David Carpenter (Cindy) and Cindy Self (Rodney); her daughter-in-law Teruyo Carpenter; her grandchildren, Wendy, Robin, Lauren, Chastity and Shannon; her great grandchildren, Haley and Merissa; her great great grandchild Holden; her niece Dawn Thompson; and her pet Maggie.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Fraley Memorial Baptist Church (3025 Fraley Church Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054). A celebration of life was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
