He was predeceased by: his parents, Wesley Zack Nelms and Frances Smith Nelms; and his brother Kenneth Nelms. He is survived by: his wife Lori Nelms; his children, Michael Nelms Jr. (Renee) and Kalyn Pruitt (Charles); his grandchildren, Landry, Kadence, Reece and Lochlin; his sisters, Kay Grant (Gary) and Diane Kellar; and his sister-in-law Renee Boyd. He is also survived by many loving nephews and nieces and their children and other beloved family members and friends.
