With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Michael Ray Hovis (Gastonia, North Carolina), born in Gaston, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 7, 2024 at the age of 72. He was predeceased by: his close friend David Ford; and his parents, Jack L Hovis II and Helen Ray Hovis. He is survived by: his close friend Larry LaCount; his daughter Sherri Hovis; his siblings, Jack L Hovis III, Kaye and Ramona; his wife Tara Patton Hovis; his sons, Carey Hovis (Heather), Trevor and Cameron Mathis; his stepchild Myla Mathis; his sister Pat Davis (Earl); his mother-in-law Sandra Wadsworth; his brothers-in-law, Brandon and Cameron Patton; and his pets, Jasper, Jaxon and Ruby. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
