It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Merline Drum Burris of Gastonia, North Carolina, born in Gaston, North Carolina, who passed away on September 7, 2023, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her mother Annie Watson; her husband James Burris, Jr.; her children, Lisa Renee Spencer, Angie Skipper Lee and James Burris, III; her sisters, Era Belle Rose and Molly Skipper; and her grandson Garren Spencer.
She is survived by: her children, Terry Spencer (Tabitha) and Cindy Spivey (Wally); her sister Jerline Decker; her son Shane Burris (Lisa); her grandchildren, Nick, Noah Spencer, Jimmy Keith Thrett, Russell Bryan, Wendy Burris, Andy Paige, Stephanie Burris, Clint Burris, Jonathan Burris, Darrell Burris and Ashley Willis; and her daughter Pam Braswell (Vernon). She is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
