It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mattie Elizabeth Tidwell (Gastonia, North Carolina), who passed away on April 10, 2025, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Mattie Elizabeth has departed this earthly realm, her legacy endures — a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours. May her spirit soar on wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.
She is survived by: her son Joseph Wyatt; her daughter-in-law Carrie Wyatt; her son Garland Wyatt; her daughter-in-law Theresa Wyatt; her grandchildren, Brittany Chestnut, Elliott Looper, Erica, Lindsey and Todd Rowland; and her cousin Michelle Kitchen. She is also survived by Nine Great Grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Greene Funeral Service South Chapel (1503 S York Rd, Gastonia, NC 28052). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 at the Morris Family Cemetery.
