With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Ellen Hardin (Gastonia, North Carolina), born in Gaston, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 29, 2024 at the age of 86. She was predeceased by: her parents, J. B. Hoffman and Margaret Hoffman; her daughter Becky Hardin; her daughter-in-law Janice Hardin; her siblings, Jerry Hoffman, Fred Hoffman, Joel Hoffman, Betty Poteat, Linda Savage and Judy Hoffman; and her grandson John Hardin.

She is survived by: her husband Allen Ray Hardin; her sons, Steve Hardin, Jr. and James Hardin; her siblings, J. B. Hoffman, Jr. and Sylvia Roberts; and her grandchildren, Caleb, Nathan, Jacob, Kenzie, Destiny and David.

Visitation was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation (2916 Union Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054). A funeral service was held on Sunday, November 3rd 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
