With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Martha Carswell Penner of Gastonia, North Carolina, born in Gaston, North Carolina, who passed away on April 26, 2023. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Samuel Everette Morrison and Eula Amanda Spencer Morrison; her former husband Everette Goldman Carswell; her son Everette Lee Carswell; and her stepson Alan Penner.

She is survived by: her husband Winford Buddy Penner; her children, Calvin David Carswell, Jane Sutton (Jimmy) and Martha Ann Ball; and her stepdaughters, Carlotta Anderson (Richard) and Bridgett Penner. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
