It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Marlene Hovis Cloninger (Gastonia, North Carolina), born in Gaston, North Carolina, who passed away on April 21, 2023, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Clyde T. Hovis and Alma Shipman Hovis; her husband Robert Carroll "Bob" Cloninger; her former husband Lee White; and her siblings, Tommy Hovis and Thelda Alman.
She is survived by: her sons, Richard Cloninger and Mark A Cloninger; her granddaughters, Anna Slentz (Nathan) and Amy Cloninger; her great grandchildren, Baylor Slentz, Ridley Slentz and Bodhi Seagle; and her sisters, Ruth Henson and Rebecca Richards. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
