It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marcus Glenn Abernathy (Gastonia, North Carolina), who passed away on January 19, 2020, at the age of 66, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Claud Wilson and Pauline McGee Abernathy; and his siblings, Claudette Hutchinson of Gastonia, Ralph G. Abernathy of Kingsport, TN and Jerry Abernathy of Gastonia.

He is survived by: his wife Sue Haskins Abernathy; his children, Jon Calvert (Carla) of St. Petersburg, FL, Wynde Abernathy of Fort Mill, SC, Shannon Calvert Pearson of Gastonia, NC, Kelly Abernathy of Charlotte, NC and Marcus Raymond Abernathy of Fort Mill, SC; his siblings, Sue Lavalla (Kris) of Raleigh, NC and Danny Abernathy (Donna) of Kings Mountain, NC; and his grandchildren, Allison Calvert, Morgan Pearson, Steven Duff, Lily Deardorff, Eli Olson and Toby Abernathy. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
