It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Larry Dean Abernathy of Gastonia, North Carolina, born in Gaston, North Carolina, who passed away on January 8, 2022, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ozell Smith Abernathy and Lloyd "Jack" Abernathy; his daughter Jennifer Lynn Abernathy; his wife Dot Abernathy; his daughter Becki Abernathy Toole (Matt); his grandchildren, Zachary Toole (Erin), Chase Toole (Samantha) and Chelsea Toole; his great grandchild Amelia Grace Toole; and his brother Ronnie Abernathy. He was also cherished by his family, especially his grandchildren and great granddaughter.
