He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia; his parents, Johnny Walters and Newell Walters; and his siblings, Raymond, Judy and Brenda.

He is survived by: his children, Joseph Walters Jr., Steven Walters and Laurie Pettry; and his grandchildren, Chelse Harris, Jordan Walters, Darian Walters, Jacob Walters, Johnathon Pettry and Robert Pettry. He is also survived by his great grandchildren; siblings; friends.
