He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John C. Hancock and Doris Thorpe Hancock; his wife Lynda Wilson Hancock; his children, Stephen Hancock (Gail) and Julia Hancock Leininger (Ted); and his sister Jean Hancock Staley of Decatur. He was also cherished by 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
