He was predeceased by: his significant other Patricia Andrews; his parents, Ambrose Ladell and Maude B. Hoffman of Gastonia; and his brothers, Robert E. Hoffman (Rubye) of Alabama and Billie B. Hoffman (Mary) of South Carolina.
He is survived by: his children, Stephen Douglas Hoffman (Becky) of Boone and Lisa Hoffman Piratzky; his grandsons, Charles Adam Piratzky (Marissa) of Franklinton, Andrew Douglas Piratzky (Samantha) of Zebulon and Aaron Philip Piratzky of Wendell; his niece Sophia Leigh Piratzky of Zebulon; and his nephews, Liam Alexander Piratzky of Franklinton and Charles Douglas Piratzky. He is also survived by his three great-grandchildren.
