He was predeceased by: his grandfather Steve Haney Sr.. He is survived by: his parents, John David Smart Sr. and Barbara Haney; his siblings, Justin Smart (Haley Richardson) and Shyain Smart; his grandparents, Joanne Haney, Mary Ann O'Neal, John C. Smart and Donald Latham; and his cousin Tors Lindsay.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Grace Baptist Church, Friday Night Light, 2200 Auten Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054.
