With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joan Motes of Gastonia, North Carolina, who passed away on December 20, 2022 at the age of 87. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Joan Motes to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Cleveland Parks Starrett and Lessie Norris Starrett; and her husband George Donald Motes. She is survived by: her son Jon David Motes; her daughter-in-law Janice Motes of Catawba; and her grandchildren, Gerrit Motes (Katie) of New Mexico and Erin Forehand (Ben) of Cameron. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren.
