He was predeceased by: his parents, James Ernest and Allie Jane Cody Bright; and his siblings-in-law, William P. Guy, Jr., Jerry C. Helms and Myra E. Guy.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret G. Bright; his children, James "Jim" Scott Bright and Beth Bright Broadwater (Rob Thompson); his granddaughter Ashley Broadwater; his sister-in-law Carolyn Helms; and his nieces and nephews, Jerry L. Helms, William P. Guy, III (Kelly) and Jennifer G. Ramsey (Jeff).
