It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Frances Ferguson Smith of Gastonia, North Carolina, born in Gaston, North Carolina, who passed away on June 20, 2024, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Lester Ferguson and Margaret "Fannie" Grigg Ferguson; her former husband William Arthur Hoffman, Jr.; her spouses, Leroy Posey and J. C. Smith; her son-in-law David Henderson; and her siblings, Richard Ferguson and Judy Ferguson Herndon.
She is survived by: her children, Lynn Hoffman Henderson and Chip Ferguson; her brothers, Charles Ferguson and David Ferguson (Barbara); her grandchildren, Lauren Henderson Becker (Drew) and William Henderson; her great grandchild Nolan David Becker; and her stepdaughter Ann Alford (Chuck). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
