We are sad to announce that on January 8, 2020, at the age of 80, Esther Adams Hunnicutt (Gastonia, North Carolina) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Esther Reid and Minor Revere Adams Jr.; her husband Harold Richard Hunnicutt Jr.; her son Reid Neisler Hunnicutt; her brother William P. Adams; her sons, Harold Richard Hunnicutt III (Melanie) of Burlington, NC and Minor "Chip" Adams Hunnicutt of Woodbridge, VA; her daughter-in-law Michelle Hunnicutt; her grandchildren, Ricky, Rebecca, Andrea, Sophie, Henry, Amelia and Whip; her niece Dr. Susan Smith Thompson (Ben) of Raleigh; her siblings, Minor R. Adams III (Susan) and Sarah A. Abernethy (William B. Abernethy Jr.); and her sister-in-law Becky Adams. She was also cherished by 7 nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

“So sorry to learn of Esther’s death via Facebook. I first met Esther in 1953 at the Lake and we became friends at that time. Dick Hunnicutt was my best friend from the first grade until after College. I was lucky enough to have been a friend of both for many years. We had many years of great times at the Lake and the basement of Esther’s home in Gastonia. I will always have fond memories of Esther and I know that she will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know her. Mike Houser”
