It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Eric Guy Planton of Gastonia, North Carolina, born in Pensacola, Florida, who passed away on March 31, 2023, at the age of 70, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Norma "Vonnie" Planton (Reid) and David Nash Planton; his sister Jan O'Neil; and his stepgrandson Thomas Smoot. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Planton; his son Aaron Planton (Stephanie); his grandchild Gunner; his son Jason Planton; his grandson Miles of Mount Holly; his stepson Brian Cobb of Hickory; his siblings, Pam Schwacke and Phil Planton (Kathie) of Charleston; and also Vincent of Dallas.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Rick's name to The Gastonia Salvation Army, 1506 Union Road, Gastonia, NC 28054.
