It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Ellamae Smarrito of Gastonia, North Carolina, born in Camden, New Jersey, who passed away on February 17, 2022, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Marcus Strang and Mary E. Bettinger Shone; her husband Antonio Smarrito; her daughter Maryetta Rotchford; her grandson Miles Naylor-Smarrito; and her brothers, Harry, Claude and Frederick Strang.

She is survived by: her children, Sandi Cowan (Sam) and Dean Smarrito; her grandchildren, Stacey Rotchford, Nicole Morgan (Dan), Tony Cowan (Ana) and Meredith Paige Rogers (Wylie); her great grandchildren, Tyler White (Kristina), Blair Henderson (Jacob), Colleen Morgan, Nathan Morgan, Breanna Cowan, Aubrey Cowan and Lyla Cowan; and her great great grandchildren, Hampton Henderson and Henry White.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Holy Angels.
