She was predeceased by: her parents, Alda Wright (Helms) and Hershel Wright; her husband Ellis Cleveland Simpson, Sr.; and her siblings, Luther Wright, Paul Wright, Walter Wright, Annie Mae Long (Wright) and Zona Rogers (Wright).

She is survived by: her children, Paula Jean Smith (George) of Kings Mountain and Ellis Cleveland Simpson, Jr. of Belmont; her grandson Jason Smith (Sherry); her great grandchildren, Noah and Tyler; and her friend Jackie Brown.
