He was predeceased by: his son Michael; and also Pearlene H. Rainey. He is survived by: his wife Mable; his daughters, Angela (Bobby) of Gastonia, N. C., Ruby (Oque) of Gastonia, N. C. and Cynthia of Gastonia, N. C.; his nieces, Lossie Ashe of Gastonia, N. C. and Betty Williams of Columbus, Ohio; his close friend Grady Bratton of Dallas, N. C.; and his stepsons, Kevin (Tammy) and Elbert (Denise). He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
