He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Dub" Leonard Thornburg and Johnsie Mae Sellers Thornburg. He is survived by: his close friend Darlene Childers; and his children, Elaine Helms (Danny), Lisa Thornburg (Kelly Grigg), Crystal Johansen (Thomas), Jennifer Goodson (Junior) and William David "Billy" Thornburg.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation (2916 Union Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054). A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the same location.
