He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Hatley and Mary Hatley; his wife Dorcas Hatley; his granddaughter Charly Smith; and his siblings, Samuel, Gene Hatley and Gwendola "Duck" Hornesby.
He is survived by: his children, Sharon Fowler (Henry III) and James Bartley Hatley; his grandson Henry Fowler IV; his nieces, Teresa Brewbaker, Claudia Cantrell, Christy Wilson and Sandy Sossamon; and his great grandchild Caleb Smith.
